Our freedoms and security, fought and died for by Canadians and their allies, are under attack. The biggest threats to our freedom are too much government, the eco-lobby, and censors posing as human rights commissions. Our biggest security threat is Islam.

Vimy Foundation Disappointment

The Vimy Foundation (created in 2006) ran a full page advertisement in the National Post on March 28. They were promoting "The Vimy Ridge Pin Campaign" to raise money for their stated goal of increasing awareness of our history, and to help mark April 9 as Vimy Ridge Day (proclaimed by Parliament in 2003). www.vimyfoundation.ca

After I read the ad, I became quite enthused. Finally, our history is being noticed and celebrated, I thought. So, I went to their website to order some pins. Unfortunately, I ended up not ordering any. This is why: following is the first-paragraph text from two PDF documents on their website, the Vimy Foundation Brochure and the Vimy Foundation Poster:

Inspired by the heroic victory of the Canadian Forces at
Vimy Ridge, The Vimy Foundation brings together students
from Canada, the United Kingdom and France, so that they
can appreciate the intertwined history of the three nations
and come to understand the bravery, horror and futility
of war.

Suddenly I lost all my enthusiasm for their cause, and I wrote them a letter (info@vimyfoundation.ca) quoting the above paragraph and adding:

War is futile? Do you include the war that defeated the Kaiser? How about
Hitler? I would have expected such a comment from a grade school competition or the NDP, but not a group using our most important historical and political symbols as you are. Unfortunately, it sounds like you are using this important anniversary to indoctrinate our youth that ALL warfare is futile, including our own, and that there is NEVER a good reason to go to war. SOME wars may seem futile, but there have been and will continue to be reasons why it is sometimes the ONLY option. If you disagree with that, may your cause be ignored.

Your choice of the word futility destroyed my initial respect for your cause. Do you mean to say that these brave young men at Vimy participated in a futile exercise? Do you think the soldiers dying in Afghanistan have died in vain as well?

I happen to believe that Canada has the most honourable armed forces in the world, and that we have always conducted war only when necessary. To make a blanket statement that "war is futile" is firstly the careless, pacifistic attitude that emboldens tyranny and oppressive regimes, and secondly an insult to the brave men and women that do the dirty job of defending freedom, mine AND yours.

I will not support a message of pacifism and regret.

Sincerely,

------

I have not heard from them, 2 business days later.

Aqsa Parvez, Remembered

Back in December 08 I wrote about the fund set up by Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs to raise funds for a memorial to Aqsa Parvez. She is the Brampton, Ontario girl who was murdered in 2007 by her father (with her brother as an accessory), for disobeying her father's Islamic beliefs and wishes.

At Atlas Shrugs today I read the words of Scott McLeod, the firefighter who spearheaded the drive by the town council of Pelham to donate a place to remember Aqsa. She died for wanting to be Canadian, and for that we must remember her. Thanks to the Town and citizens of Pelham for their gift.

Read about the Aqsa Memorial saga here: thanks, Pamela.

Top Ten Obama Administration Gaffes

Here's a hilarious collection of gaffes from Mr Hopeychangey and his sidekick Grampa. Between this stuff and the number of losers and tax cheats they've tried to jam into power, we have plenty of reason to worry about what will be left of the USA when the puppet of the left is done with it. (Sorry, Joe Biden asking a paraplegic to stand up is NOT included in this list)

Any ONE of these would have had the hypocritical Left screaming its financially illiterate brains out for impeachment if committed by a Republican.

Thank you Toby Harnden at the Telegraph (http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/)

Obama compares his poor bowling skills to Special Olympics competitors- Liberal Media Yawns

The Leftist-In-Chief of the United States decides to further indulge his fetish for attention and personal gain by being the first President to appear on a talk show (with Jay Leno, March 19/09). How crass and self-serving. How "left". Then he commits a gaffe that would have had his minions Pelosi and Reid screaming for "impeachment" if his predecessor had said it.

B. Hussein Obama compared his lousy bowling skills to competitors in the Special Olympics, and the media yawned. Arnold Shwarzenegger was smiling as he made excuses for B. Hussein's gaffe on TV.

Is there nothing that B Hussein can do to earn disdain, or even mild criticism? Apparently B. Hussein can insult the handicapped and the left thinks it's no biggie. After all, he's only the President!

The fact remains that the Left is worse than any external enemy we have ever had, because they have (and exercise daily) the ability to destroy us from within. The plan has 4 years to disassemble America and remake it in the eyes of Obama's racist pastor, his convicted felon friends, and the terrorist Bill Ayers, friend and mentor of Obama for over 20 years.

God, please save America and the free world from this puppet President.

Canadian Sniper Kill Shots in Afghanistan (video rejected by YouTube)

Update Dec 2009:
I was misled by the original author of the email I wrote about in this post, last March 2009. He/she was lying about the subject of the video. My original post from March begins after the asterisk line below.

Sadly, the video I received doesn't show Canadian snipers in Afghanistan. I say sadly because as a Canadian patriot I thought it was great to actually see our heroes in action. Unfortunately, it's just freelance wildlife exterminators using elephant guns on small game so they can watch the guts fly through the air.

If you haven't just skipped to the video yet, I'd ask you to appreciate my original comments from last March (they appear before and after the clip) in appreciation of Canada's military men and women. I feel fortunate to able to use a blog to express my support of Canada's military and all our allies.

Merry Christmas to all.

Original Post follows this line
**************************

I received the video below in an email today. It startled me, amazed me, and made me feel proud to be Canadian. Proud of all of the brave men and women in our military, and proud of the skill of our sniper teams.

Following is the text of the email to which it was attached. Please read it before watching. When it says "Pay close attention to the beginning", it means have your sound and picture adjusted and ready BEFORE you press play!

God bless our soldiers. They defend our freedom with their lives.

email text:

"Read This Before Watching Video!

Not for people with weak stomachs!!!

Very sobering footage. I'm glad the Canadians are on our side."

""Canadian Sniper wiping out Taliban Snipers in Afghanistan: they never saw it coming.

These video shots are not made through the shooter's telescopic sight. They are made looking through the spotter's scope. The spotter lies right next to the sniper and helps the sniper to find and home in on the target.

The sniper is using a 50 calibre rifle. A 50 cal. round is about 7-8
inches long and the casing is about an inch in diameter. The bullet itself is one-half inch in diameter and roughly one and one-half inches long.

Pay close attention to the beginning of the video. A Taliban sniper is laying on top of the peak in front of you... when you hear the shot fired....watch what happens. The sniper is also about a half mile away or more.

A Canadian sniper in Afghanistan has been confirmed as hitting an enemy soldier at a range of 2,310 meters (7565 ft/1.43 miles), the longest recorded and confirmed sniper shot in history. The previous record of 2,250 meters (7369 ft/1.4 miles) was set by US Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam in 1967. The Canadian sniper was at an altitude of 8,500 feet and the target, across a valley, was at 9,000 feet.
Canadian sniper units often operated in support of US infantry units, which were grateful for their help. The record lasted only one day, until a second Canadian sniper hit an enemy soldier at 2,400 meters (7860 feet/1.48 miles).

The Canadian snipers fire special 50-calibre McMillan tactical rifles, which are bolt-action weapons with five-round magazines. The Canadian snipers were the only Canadian troops operating without helmets or flak jackets as they had too much other equipment to carry. Each three-man team has one sniper rifle, three standard rifles, Canadian (C7s), one of them with a 203mm grenade launcher.""

After being rejected by YouTube, I was able to find a home for the video right here at Blogger.

If the video above doesn't play, you can
download it here or Watch it at Veridoo.

Here is
an article about five Canadian snipers from the PPCLI working with American forces in Afghanistan in 2002. They were so effective they were nominated and awarded Bronze Stars by the US Army. Sadly, (the day before the award ceremony!), some small minded Canadian military official halted the Americans' honourable gesture. This stunt did a fine job of embarrassing ALL Canadians.

The Canadian brass was too petty and envious to deal with the reality of having another country show them and the world how good Canadian soldiers really are.

UPDATE Feb 19, 2010:

This post was inspired by the story of Canadian snipers performing heroic acts in the defense of freedom. Here's an interview with Rob Furlong, the Canadian sniper who set a world record with a kill shot of 2,430 m while serving with  the Marines in Afghanistan (Operation Anaconda 2002).

UN resolution seeks to criminalize non Islamic thought

At Slate.com, Christopher Hitchens warns us about the threat to our freedom that is Islam. Our fundamental beliefs about individual rights are being challenged in our own courts, by the emissaries of Islam and its barbaric sharia laws.

Let's wake up!

Submit or Die: Our choices as offered by Islam

Here is what the West faces in 2009: the same demands from Islam as at Vienna in 1683.

Submit to Islam or Die

Thanks to the Baron for the valuable history lesson. Let's check our powder, shall we?
